Pledge to share your love of gardening with kids
As a gardener, you want your garden to thrive, and you probably also want your love of gardening to take root in others, particularly in the next generation.
Children today are growing up in a very different world. It is filled with TV, video games and rushing to different activities.
Will you help make sure our young people’s world has some green in it too, by pledging to share your love of gardening with the children in your life?
It’s a simple pledge that can have a very powerful impact.
Just imagine your granddaughter, grandson, niece, nephew, son or daughter when he or she discovers a four-leaf clover in the grass …or a worm in the dirt.
Think of the pride that will come when he fills a vase with flowers he helped plant … or she gets to walk outside and pick a whole salad for lunch.
Research proves what our intuition tells us, children benefit from being in nature. Opportunities to garden can help children develop social skills, enhance school curricula, bring families together, and demonstrate the link between nature and food, clothing and shelter.
So please give the children in your life the chance to grow and learn from gardening. Take the American Horticultural Society’s pledge to share your love of gardening with children.
You can help build greener tomorrows for the next generation!
